On Friday, the Pulitzer Foundation unveiled an exciting addition to its Tadao Ando–designed headquarters in St. Louis: two new galleries by the Pritzker Prize winner.
The concrete structure, which Ando first conceived for the foundation in 2001, plays host to art exhibitions, talks, concerts, and long-term installations from the likes of Ellsworth Kelly and Richard Serra. The new galleries, which add 3,700 square feet of exhibition space, occupy the foundation’s lower level, previously devoted to offices and administratio. Ando’s ability to transform concrete into elegant form is as apparent as ever in the new galleries, which blend seamlessly into his original structure.
