When it comes to creating a good first impression, nothing is more important than your choice of living room furniture layout. If your home is well decorated one then the rest of the house will instantly be drawn into it. This means that when you go out shopping for new living room furniture you should take all the time to ensure you get one that suits both your taste and budget. Here is an awesome array of 13 interior living room furniture layout plans in a stunning series of interior living room floor plan examples.
Arrange the layout so that there are at least 2 seats in each corner. If more are required then arrange in two stacks of three so as to maximize visual space. The 2 armchairs set should face each other in the centre of the room, preferably away from the TV. It will be an accent piece and can be accented by matching crystal coffee mugs and decorative dishes. You could also use a side table to place a vase filled with flowers or plants if you like.
Arrange the Living Room Furniture Layout on the Whole Floor Spread. This is a great idea for a large living room, as it enables the sofa and loveseat to overlap on each other. So what you do is take the top row of your two armchairs, place your coffee table on top and then place the second loveseat on top of the first one. The Loveseat can then be pushed back under the sofa and the coffee table so as to form a second sofa. This will leave you with a free wall space between the two sofa sets. A similar solution can be applied to a double sofa by pushing the second sofa back under the first sofa.
Arrange your Living Room Furniture Layout on the Second Lower Floor. For many living rooms this is where the two flanking armchairs are placed. Therefore you need to make sure that this area is adequately differentiated from the dining room so that there is enough space to move around without bumping into each other. Therefore you can either arrange the furniture on the large ground floor level or preferably in pairs on the smaller second floor. It is very important to make sure that the smaller ground floor level is not overloaded with furniture as this can cause congestion. The advantage of the second floor is that it is a bit more spacious and will enable you to move around freely without bumping into any walls or doors.
Move Around the Living Room Furniture Layout As Soon As Possible. When you have arranged the furniture on the large living room floor plan, you are now ready to start rearranging. You might want to place the love seat against one wall so that there is some breathing space between the sofa set and the wall. If you have a large living room and lots of visitors who come in and out all the time then you can even place your sofa set against the wall opposite the door so that the sofa does not obstruct the doorway. Always be careful about what you place on the walls especially if you have young children as they tend to get very excited when they see their friends coming to visit.
When arranging the arrangement of the living room, always make sure that you leave enough room for movement around the sofa and Ottoman seats. This means that you can adjust the size of the sofa and Ottoman chairs without having to knock down walls or doors. There are two types of furniture that you can choose for the two armchairs on the sofa. Either you can go for a large leather Ottoman seat that has a built in back rest and foot rest, or you can choose a comfortable leather sofa that also comes with built in ottomans and back rests. When you go for the leather Ottoman seats you can either choose a traditional looking design with a long strap or you can opt for a more modern looking design that has a removable strap and comes with fabric slings.
Having decided the layout, you can now place the coffee table against one wall and the Ottoman against the other wall. The sofa and loveseat should be placed in the middle of the living room and facing the door. Your lamp or chandelier can be on one side of the sofa and the coffee table on one side of the coffee table. It is always best to place the television screen or DVD player against the wall opposite the sofa and loveseat as this will save space and you do not need to bend over to watch a movie in this position.
To finish off your small living room floor plan, you should place the TV screen and DVD player against the wall at the rear of the sofa and two flanking armchairs around the corner so that they face the other side of the door. You can now sit back and relax. In my next articles I will go into more depth about the furniture that you can incorporate into a small living room floor plan.
