See Knoll’s sleek new stools and side table by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby

If the design world had a secret society—and who’s to say it doesn’t—the list of past and present members might read something like the roster at Knoll. Founded in 1938, the furniture company produces pieces by a veritable Who’s Who of the creative field, from midcentury masters such as Eero Saarinen and Harry Bertoia to contemporary visionaries like David Adjaye and Maya Lin.

Joining their ranks last year was British design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, who collaborated with Knoll on a line of sculptural sofas. To complement that seating, the gents have now introduced an industrial-style side table and stool, the latter of which comes in either fixed or adjustable heights.

Available in a range of colors and finishes, the pieces all share a sleek form, with circular surfaces that crown a conical, tripodlike base of die-cast aluminum. Ring-shaped elements bind the vertical structural supports at top and bottom, preventing the pieces from wobbling as a typical three-legged number might. All the better for a hush-hush gathering . . .
