A newly unveiled exhibition pays homage to Pritzker Prize winner Richard Meier on the occasion of his firm’s 50th anniversary. Mounted by the Bisazza Foundation in Montecchio, Italy, “Richard Meier: Architecture and Design” surveys the AD100 talent’s legendary body of work, revealing his enduring love of clean lines, compelling geometries, and, above all, the color white.
Included in the retrospective are 16 models, among them those for iconic buildings such as the Getty Center; recent works including a private clubhouse in Shenzhen, China; and unrealized visions, as in the case of his unbuilt design for the World Trade Center Memorial.
Also on display are some of Meier’s forays into furnishings, for example, a silver-plate tea service and a set of flatware by SwidPowell. Should you find yourself in the Italian countryside this summer, consider the show a must-see stop.
