An article this week in The New York Times tracks the challenges that Hancock Shaker Village has had in attracting visitors in recent years. In the two years since the arrival of a new president and chief executive, the site has thankfully begun making a profit, but there’s still plenty of work to be done to fully restore the village.
As the New Year begins, we revisit Lee F. Mindel’s photographs of the iconic village, in the hopes that we can continue to preserve this important piece of Americana.
