Kazuyasu Kochi of Kochi Architect’s Studio has taken open-concept living to the next level. For his latest project, the Tokyo-based architect has transformed a two-story, eight-unit apartment building into a single-family home with a unique look.
The house, located in the Tokyo suburb of Chiba, has a relatively unassuming exterior, but inside it holds a big surprise. Walls are sliced at unconventional angles and painted bold colors, tricking the eye into seeing the space as a two-dimensional image that could have been painted by Braque or Picasso. The bright hues and and offbeat rooms give the house a light, whimsical feel.
