So you have made the decision to redo your living room. You love your living room and it seems you spend all your time there. But it isn't as easy as it looks, is it? It can be a daunting task when you are planning out your design and don't know where to begin. Here is an awesome set of 13 custom living room furniture layout designs in a series of living room floor plan designs.
Arrange your custom living room furniture floor plan in such a way that your new space flows seamlessly from one end of the house to the other. This means no borders and nothing are forced into the space. The way you do this is by laying out your furniture in manageable levels so that there is never any confusion as to where something is. You will want two armchairs at each end of the space, two recliners, and two sofas. This is the first part of your custom living room floor plan.
Next determine where you want your sofa to go. An option is to put it at one end of the living room sofas, while leaving the other sofa empty. In this way you have a double sofa with an empty corner. With the sofa set up as a single piece of furniture, you are left with a single sofa chair and a coffee table between it and the sofa. This would be a nice choice, except for the fact that if you or one of your guests get up, the table can just be pushed over to the other side of the room without being in view.
There are other layouts that work great for two flanked armchairs. The two flanking armchairs allow you to have two seats open, giving everyone in the room access to a comfortable seat. The two loveseats are also a good option for two couches if you don't need two couches. You can also choose to put one sofa across from another, creating a small sitting area with two chairs. You may want to consider putting a couple chairs in the middle of the room, although this is not as functional as placing one sofa in front of another one.
A variation on the two flanking sofa is the single sofa with two reclining ottomans. This gives you more seating options than with the two flanking armchairs. However, you will likely only have room for one sofa and no more, which can make this arrangement impractical. A single sofa sitting on an empty corner is also ineffective. A better choice for a large living room would be to put two ottomans next to each other, with one Ottoman seating at each end of the sofa.
If you are working with a smaller living room, you can still create a nice layout by placing a loveseat between two couches. Ideally, you should put the loveseat opposite of where your coffee table is. That way, there is plenty of room all around the coffee table for people to get up and sit. Of course, it doesn't' matter if you can't fit a coffee table through the middle of the loveseat, as long as there is room for at least one other piece of furniture in the room. Two end tables or a side table would be a nice addition to any configuration.
To create an effective two-person sofa living room floor plan, you will want to create at least two open areas in your living room. These should be places where people can comfortably sit. One of these areas should be slightly larger than the other so that the space is not too crowded. Place a chair or set of chairs, where you will be able to sit comfortably and have someone beside you to call if you need help. If you want to, you can even create two open areas with a sofa and loveseat and place a small table between them. That way, you'll have three open seating areas in your living room.
Another option for this layout is to use one sofa and a love seat or Ottoman seats between two couches. You can use Ottoman seats to sit on when you are watching TV. When you are done watching TV, you can fold up the Ottoman seat and place it back on the couch so that you can easily get up and go. A great benefit of using Ottoman seats and couches with Ottoman chairs is that you will always be able to find a comfortable spot to sit when you have visitors who are just a few steps away from your sofa or loveseat. In addition to being able to sit, they will allow you to store items and store away your shoes without having to rummage through your house.
