With eyes out for the cars that’ll be moving the needle in 2012, Architectural Digest surveyed the recent North American International Auto Show , where all the latest market-ready models and concept cars were on display. One major takeaway? If the worldwide car industry is concerned about continued economic uncertainty, it wasn’t obvious in Detroit. Everywhere you looked were showy, luxurious designs—cars with low-slung, stealthy profiles; shallowly raked windows; high and wide wheels; plush, gizmo-rich interiors; and more pronounced body cladding than a battalion of Transformer robots.
