Aston Martin Unveils Design for Its First-Ever Superyacht

Sharing is caring!

A recent trend seems to be making waves in the world of yachting: luxury carmakers designing superyachts. Late last year, Bugatti teamed with Palmer Johnson , the world’s largest motor craft builder, to create a series of fast and elegant cruisers. Now, Aston Martin is entering the high-end world of yacht design. The British automotive company known for zipping James Bond around—most recently in the sleek Aston Martin DB10 for 2015’s Spectre—has teamed with the Dutch-based firm Quintessence Yachts to devise a new watercraft. The AM37 was unveiled earlier this month and, according to a statement from the carmaker, “captures performance, handling, comfort, and style synonymous with Aston Martin.”

The 37-foot craft comes with three engine options: two powerful 520-horsepower engines that push the yacht to 52 knots (60 m.p.h.), or a pair of more leisurely 370-horsepower diesel engines or 430-horsepower gas engines. The yacht also features a remote-controlled sliding deck made of three carbon-fiber panels that can cover the entire cockpit, protecting the interiors from the elements. “The new powerboat represents the ideal combination of luxurious and technical materials,” said Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman in a statement, “generating a powerful yet understated finished product.” The craft includes a digital interface for navigation and control systems, including electric anchors, the aforementioned retractable roof, as well as a retractable swimming platform for guests to more easily enter and exit the water. There is also a mechanism for fingerprint recognition to ensure that only authorized users can set sail.
