While the latest addition to the New York skyline, Renzo Piano’s Whitney Museum, is getting most of the architectural buzz these days, another landmark just received a monumental tribute of its own, albeit one that’s six inches high. The Flatiron Building, or the Fuller Building as it is was originally known, is the newest entry in Lego’s Architecture series, which has already captured works by Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Le Corbusier.
Located across the street from Lego’s new flagship store, the Flatiron, which was designed by architect Daniel Burnham and completed in 1902, is a fitting choice. The iconic triangular shape and Beaux Arts elements are translated into 471 plastic components, making it perfect for budding builders (12 years old and up) as well as adult architecture enthusiasts.
